Distance child adoption program

Within the state of Tamil Nadu, many children live in conditions of absolute poverty. Tamil Nadu is one of the poorest states of India and families don’t have money to send the children to school, buy clothing for them and sometimes there is even not enough money for food. After the Tsunami the situation of many children in Tamil Nadu worsened. Families got disorganized, more children were unable to go to school because of poverty, children got desolated and an increase in child labour was noticeable.
The present caste system and dowry system in India also have a negative affect on many children’s life. Especially girls are affected by these traditional systems; they are seen as a burden to the family and because of that the care for them is often neglected. In case of orphans it is even worse.
Children are very important to society; they are the future! Because basic needs such as food, health care and (especially) education are not always met for many children in Tamil Nadu, AID INDIA founded the distance child adoption program. We are supporting over 200 children with this program. The child stays with his/her parents, but gets the help of an adoption family. With this help the child gets a chance to go to school, buy school materials and clothing. The adoption family establishes a friendly relationship with the child and can exchange letters, postcards and pictures.
Still hundreds of children are in need of this support. The distance child adoption program gives YOU the possibility to help a child that lives in a condition of absolute poverty.
